Contraindications

- Any active ear condition or disorder (e.g. otitis media, perforated eardrum, recent ear surgery)
- Cardiovascular conditions where increased intrathoracic pressure is contraindicated
- Recent eye surgery or raised intraocular pressure
- Acute sinusitis or epistaxis (nosebleed)
- Haemoptysis of unknown origin
- Untreated or unstable pneumothorax
